Oxford's Historic, Liberal Arts Campus

History PictureEmory College was founded in Oxford, Georgia in 1836. It was moved to Atlanta in 1919 to become the nucleus of a new research university, but Emory has always maintained its historic Oxford campus as a special place for students who prefer to live and study in a smaller community during their first two years. Today, there are seven buildings around the quad that were constructed before 1900 and are in daily use. They imbue the campus with an architectural grace and historical gravitas that prompts visitors to say "this is exactly what a small liberal arts campus should look like". Read more...
