
Effective teaching that transforms learning. Oxford's faculty are exceptional teachers in their understanding of the learning process, their skill in promoting learning, and their concern for individual student's success. They employ active learning pedagogies that compel students to build knowledge for themselves - an approach that produces deep and lasting learning. With an average freshman / sophomore class size of 19, each student is known by his or her faculty and students are expected to work with faculty both in and out of class. The Oxford faculty collaborate with Oxford's Center for Academic Excellence and participate in Oxford's annual Institute for Pedagogy in the Liberal Arts in continuing efforts to make their teaching ever more effective and transformative.
