* New Computer Recommendations

  • Operating System: Windows 7, Windows Vista or Macintosh 10.6, 10.7
  • Processor: Core 2 Duo or higher
  • Memory: 2 GB or larger
  • Hard Drive: 100 GB or larger
  • Wireless Card: 802.11 g/n
  • Network Card: 10/100/1000

* Do not purchase Antivirus software, Oxford will provide upon arrival

* You can connect your computer to Oxford's network after your arrival. Instructions and help will be available.

* Making International phone calls

  • Skype, GoogleTalk, or other voice over IP services
  • Purchase an international calling card at local merchants to use with local cell phones
  • Do not bring a phone router, as it will cause your port to be disabled by Network Services

* The three communication methods primarily used at Oxford College:

  • LearnLink: social media, chat, community/group/personal calendars, and discussion boards
  • Blackboard: website for some of your courses (syllabi, assignments, grades, audio and video files, group collaboration)
  • OPUS: online system for access to class registration, student finances, and personal biographic information.
  • Office 365: email
