Over the next 30 days, Emory University Technical Services (UTS) is improving the archiving system for Exchange email for both Outlook (Windows) and Entourage (Macintosh).   The software that performs the searches (search engine) is being transitioned from older technology - Alta Vista, to newer technology - IDOL. 

Windows:  If you use the old Archive toolbar installed in Outlook, it must be removed and the new IDOL Archive toolbar installed.  This process is:

1.       Close all Outlook windows on your computer.

2.       Using Windows <Start> menu, choose <Control Panel> and <Add or Remove Programs>.

3.       Single-Click on EASClient.

4.       Single-Click on Remove, confirm that you want to proceed and let the computer complete the removal process.

5.       Close the <Add or Remove Programs> window.

6.       Click on this link.
Enter your Emory netID and password, accept the license agreement at the bottom and download the installer.  You may need to click on IE's yellow message bar to authorize the download.

7.       When the download completes, single-click on the <Run> button and complete the process.

This adds the Archive toolbar to your Outlook with the familiar commands.  However, these commands will now be using the new IDOL search engine.
