The Samuel W. Mills Peace Lecture

This Lectureship, now hosted by the Pierce Program in Religion, is named for Samuel Worley Mills.

Samuel Mills was a former student of Oxford College from Sylvania, Georgia, who was killed in an accident in March, 1986, during his senior year at Emory University. When Samuel Mills was at Oxford College and Emory College, he became deeply involved in efforts at world peace and international understanding. His parents, John and Elizabeth Mills, established this lectureship in his honor and memory. The Samuel Mills Peace Lecturer must be a Georgian who has contributed significantly to world peace and understanding.
