Oxford Clamps Down on Huntingdon College JV for 61 to 36 victory

February 16, 2010

The Oxford College men's basketball team jumped out early and never looked back as they cruised past Huntingdon College JV by a score of 61 to 36.

Oxford's pressure defense did not allow Huntingdon to score their first point of the game until a free throw with 7:33 to go in the first half and Huntingdon did not score a field goal until the 4:33 mark of the half.

This allowed for the Eagles to jump out to a comfortable 26 to 3 lead in the game.  Huntingdon converted on only 3 of 31 field goal attempts in the first half for 9.7% as Oxford led  33 to 7 at halftime.

Oxford placed two players in double-figures led by Caesar Anyogu with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Jay Okeke with 11 points and 8 rebounds.  Gabe Martin also had a solid night with 7 points and 12 rebounds.

With the victory, Oxford secures a berth in the NJCAA Division III Regional Tournament in Lexington, NC the week of February 25-27.
