Eagles Dominate Shorter University JV 93 to 66

The Oxford Eagles used a solid team effort to defeat the Shorter University JV Hawks by a score of 93 to 66 on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Shorter University. 

Lead by a tremendous team effort, Kameron Phillips had the best game of his collegiate career with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals.  Stephen Simmons poured in 6 three point shots to add 20 points, followed by Caesar Anyogu with 17 points and 6 rebounds and Evan Dunwoodie with 16 points.  Tarik Acevedo had a game high total of 11 rebounds with 7 of those offensive rebounds on pure effort and determination to go along with 9 points.

The Eagles lead 42 to 34 at halftime, before going on a 22 to 4 spurt at the beginning of the second half to take control of the game.  Oxford biggest lead of the game was 32 points by a score of 89 to 57 with 3:00 minutes left in the game. 

Oxford forced Shorter into 24 turnovers that the Eagles converted into 37 points which also helped the Eagles field goal percentage that ended up at 48.6 percent for the game.

"I really liked the attitude and effort in the second half of the game, we played extremely hard and shot the ball well," stated Head Coach Roderick Stubbs.

Oxford is now 2 and 1 on the young season and plays its next game on the road versus Emmanuel College Junior Varsity on Thursday, November 11 in Franklin Springs, GA.  Tip off time is 7:30pm.
