Oxford Controls Reinhardt University junior varsity 77 to 58November 16, 2010
The Oxford College of Emory University men's basketball team cruised to a 77 to 58 away victory on Monday night versus the Reinhardt University junior varsity. The win improved the Eagles to 3 and 2 while Reinhardt fell to 1 and 1 on the young season. The game was tied at 15 all at the 11 minute mark of the first half before Oxford went on a 29 to 8 run to close out the first half to take total control of the game. The halftime score was 44 to 23. Oxford dominated the boards with a 46 to 26 rebound advantage which led to 14 second chance points throughout the game. The Eagles were lead in rebounds by point guard Kameron Phillips with 8. The Oxford defense forced 28 turnovers which produced 32 points and easy scoring opportunities on the break. "I was really proud of the energy that our bench players produced especially Jason Levick who scored 4 points, along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals," commented Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. Oxford was led in scoring by Sophomore Wesley Bugg who scored all 15 of his points in the first half of the game and converted on 2 for 2 three point shots. Reserves Brandon Bassell and Jorge Menocal each contributed with 10 points respectively and Evan Dunwoodie poured in 10 points off the beach. Reinhardt was led in scoring by Justin Sneed with 17 points. Oxford returns to the court Thursday to take on GCAA Division I opponent Gordon College in Barnesville, GA. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30.
