Kameron Phillips scored 16 of his game-high 21 points in the beginning of the second half, hitting 5 three pointers for the game as Oxford topped Huntingdon College J.V. 74 to 57 in Montgomery, Alabama on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles won their second straight game and improved to 9 and 9 overall. Oxford played a stingy second half of defense as they held Huntingdon to only 19 total points in the period and limited Huntingdon to only 7 made field goals. "We made a few adjustments to our defense in the second half and the guys executed that plan to perfection," commented Head Coach Roderick Stubbs. Oxford trailed 38 to 32 at halftime, before Kameron Philip started the comeback with 3 consecutive three-point shots to tie the game at 39 all in the first three minutes of the half. Jorge Menocal produced another strong effort pouring in 15 points and Tarik Acevedo added 12 points. |
