Warren and Kathy Brook

For decades, Warren and Kathy Brook have exemplified the spirit of service, leadership, and devotion that defines the R. Carl Chandler Award. Their commitment to Oxford College has been both deeply personal and profoundly transformative, leaving an enduring imprint on the institution and its community.
A member of the Oxford College Class of 1970, Warren Brook has been a steadfast presence in alumni leadership for more than a generation. His service includes a decade on the Oxford College Alumni Board, as well as leadership roles on the Emory Alumni Board and the Oxford Board of Counselors. Through his work organizing reunions, building connections among alumni, and mentoring students, Warren has helped cultivate a lifelong sense of belonging that extends well beyond graduation. His dedication reflects a belief that Oxford is not merely a place, but a community sustained through relationships and shared purpose.
Kathy Brook, named an honorary alumna in 2016, has been equally integral to Oxford’s story. Her advocacy for the college has been marked by generosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine care for students and the Oxford experience. Together, Warren and Kathy have consistently prioritized the growth, preservation, and spirit of the institution, ensuring that Oxford’s distinctive character remains strong and vibrant for future generations.
Their philanthropic legacy is perhaps most powerfully realized through the Brook International Travel Endowment (BITE). Recognizing the transformative power of global experience, the Brooks have enabled countless Oxford students to travel, learn, and see themselves—and the world—more broadly, often for the first time. Their decision to name Oxford College as the beneficiary of their estate further reflects a lifetime of service rooted in both immediate impact and long-term vision.
Through their time, leadership, mentorship, and generosity, Warren and Kathy Brook have honored Oxford’s traditions while boldly investing in its future. Their extraordinary commitment makes them deeply deserving recipients of the R. Carl Chandler Award.
