Amanda Yu-Nguyen, Director of the Center for Healthful Living
Amanda Yu-Nguyen, EdD, serves as the Director of the Center for Healthful Living (CHL) at Oxford College of Emory University, where she provides visionary leadership for one of the College’s most student-centered and holistic programs. Since joining Oxford in 2010 as the College’s first Health Educator, and moving into the director role in 2013, Amanda has shaped CHL into a model of integrated health education, wellness promotion, and physical activity within a liberal arts environment.

In her role as Director, Amanda oversees all components of the Center for Healthful Living, including credit-bearing health and physical education courses, health promotion initiatives, facilities management, intercollegiate and intramural athletics, and recreational programs. She leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to Oxford’s signature philosophy of educating the mind and exercising the body—ensuring that students thrive academically, physically, and emotionally.

Before coming to Oxford, Amanda worked at the University of Michigan’s Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Program, where she developed and delivered harm-reduction training to high-risk student populations, including fraternity members and first-year students. Her early work in public health and behavior change has informed the student-centered, wellness-driven approach she champions at Oxford.

Amanda holds three degrees from leading public universities:

  • BS, Brain, Behavior & Cognitive Science — University of Michigan (2008)
  • MPH, Public Health — University of Michigan (2010)
  • EdD, Higher Education Management — University of Georgia (2021)
Amanda is admired across Oxford College for her collaborative leadership, strong student advocacy, and commitment to cultivating healthy lifelong habits. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, ultra-running, and exploring new restaurants across Atlanta.
