Bob Walker

Bob Walker was born at Emory Hospital and raised in the Druid Hills area. He has 42 years of law enforcement experience on the municipal, county, state, and private levels.

Captain Walker retired from the Emory Police Department after working for Emory for 33 years. He worked on the Atlanta campus from 1987-1990. In 1990 he became the Public Safety Director of Oxford College managing a security department. In 1995 he coordinated the establishment of an Emory Police Department Division at Oxford College which replaced the security department. He led the transition from having security guards to more professional police services.

Captain Walker was always super friendly and kind to students, visitors, faculty, and staff. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to help everyone. Captain Walker was present for all of the major events on campus and coordinated police services for these events. His willingness to go the extra mile at Oxford was apparent.

His two daughters graduated from Emory University. He resides with his wife, Odessa, in Social Circle, Ga.
