Pablo Palomino
A multilingual scholar and traveler, Associate Professor of Latin American and Caribbean Studies Pablo Palomino recently spent three days at the Emory TangoFest, sharing his passion for the culture of modern Latin America. Raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Palomino is a historian who explores cross-cultural connections in food and music.
Palomino incorporates ‘walking ethnographically’ into his classes and intends to guide students in London on neighborhood tours to observe, listen, and experience globally influenced communities. He is also a football fan. “The geography and culture of London football, with its local identities and international players and investors, is something I would enjoy exploring with my students, as it is closely tied to my scholarly interests—the cultural history of globalization.”
In London, students’ firsthand research experience with historical documents “could spark vocations, and certainly give an early advantage to students pursuing legal, international, business, social sciences, and humanities careers, for which interpreting evidence is crucial.”
