Oxford student Edgar Sanchez selected for Hollywood Radio and Television Society Fellowship Program
Sanchez is the first Oxford student to be a part of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society Fellowship Program.
For the first time, an Oxford College student—second-year Edgar Sanchez of Farmers Branch, Texas—has been selected for the prestigious 2023 Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS) Fellowship Program. As part of the program, Sanchez will receive one-on-one mentorship from an executive HRTS sponsor and a complimentary one-year membership to the society—as well as other benefits such as admission to a variety of events and opportunities for professional networking.
“I feel incredibly grateful to be selected for this fellowship,” Sanchez said. “I’ll have access to several events and individuals who are well-established in the film industry. This is my first professional step in my journey as a filmmaker.”
Sanchez is primarily interested in the business side of filmmaking and is looking forward to networking with both other fellows and active professionals in the field.
“But I will also use what I learn from the fellowship to expand my own film portfolio. As Chair of Film Production for the Oxford College Film Club, I plan on producing a series of short films.”
Sanchez credits Masha Vlasova, Oxford Assistant Professor of Film and Media Studies, with encouraging him to pursue the fellowship in her Film 107 course.
“It’s exciting that Edgar was selected for this prestigious fellowship,” Vlasova said. “Edgar is a serious film production student and his being selected signals that our program is growing its presence both on and off campus.
“Oxford College was the gateway to this fellowship, and I know it will open many more opportunities in the future,” Sanchez said.
