An inaugural Health and Wellness Expo drew the Oxford community together on Friday, Feb. 21 as part of the new OxWell initiative to empower students to cultivate healthy lifestyles, build resilience, and achieve personal success.

The Expo was organized by the Student Health and Wellness Committee with support from Oxford Campus Life. According to Luccas Perez 25Ox, lead organizer and chair of the committee, “The Expo was crucial in raising awareness about the many resources available under the Health and Wellness umbrella. Advising, counseling, student health, fitness, religious lifethese are all essential aspects of student well-being, and we wanted to bring them together in a setting that was both engaging and fun.”

The event connected a wide range of student organizations and performance groups with Oxford administrative departments and support services for an evening of entertainment, information sharing, camaraderie, and culture.

“Oxford has always been a nurturing place, but the goal of OxWell is to further cultivate a culture where well-being is woven into the fabric of campus life, guiding individuals to connect meaningfully, learn continuously, and mature into their best selves,” says Senior Associate Dean of Campus Life Darleny Cepin, who shared that the program will be in full swing starting next fall.

“Well-being is a lifelong journey, but students don’t have to figure it out alone. OxWell is about fostering a supportive campus culture where students feel empowered to prioritize their health, build meaningful connections, and access the resources they need to thrive.”

First-year student Sojat Kedir 26Ox observed that it was impressive to see how different clubs came together to celebrate culture and community. “The food they shared was incredible, and the atmosphere was so welcoming. Events like this are exactly why I’m so glad I applied to Oxford College. The community here is everything,” she says.

Zoe Grotjan 24Ox 26B returned to campus to attend the Expo and reunite with her Oxford friends. The event was important because it showed that student government, faculty, and staff are there to support students and to “get to know each other and truly connect, which aligns with Emory University's goals of belonging.”
